A violent brawl broke out yesterday evening in Piazza Bellini, in the centre of Naples, where three German tourists were attacked with glass bottles from a group of presumably local people.

The most serious conditions concern one of the three, hospitalized in red code at the Cardarelli hospital with a lacerated-bruised wound to the throat and in a reserved prognosis. A second tourist was transported to Pellegrini, where he was discharged with a 30-day prognosis for a blunt trauma to the face, while the third refused treatment.

I Carabinieri of the Naples Center Company are investigating to reconstruct the dynamics of the attack and identify those responsible.

In a separate episode, in the late yesterday evening, the Carabinieri of the mobile radio unit intervened in via PoerioIn the neighborhood San Lorenzo, for a 35 year old man of Algerian nationality, stabbed in the chest.

In via Poerio an Algerian was stabbed instead

The man, without a regular residence permit and already known to the police, was admitted to Pellegrini in non-critical conditions. Investigations are underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

Both cases remain at the center of the investigative activities of the Carabinieri. The Prefect of Naples was informed of both episodes, always attentive to what happens especially during the nights of the Neapolitan movida

It is a very sad fact what happened in Piazza Bellini, violence should never be a solution. I hope that the authorities can find those responsible and that the tourists can recover quickly from their injuries.
