Naples – A lightning operation by the Carabinieri led to a record seizure of cocaine along the outer ring road of Naples.
Two men, a 33-year-old Neapolitan and a 47-year-old Romanian citizen, were arrested red-handed while transferring a large load of drugs from a truck to a car. The blitz, conducted by the military of the investigative unit, allowed them to intercept 81 kilos and 740 grams of pure cocaine, a quantity that would have brought in around 10 million euros once cut and placed on the market.
THE CARABINIERI BLITZ
The operation began in the middle of the night, in a poorly lit stretch of the outer ring road, on the border between the San Pietro a Patierno neighborhood and the northern province of Naples. During a patrol, the Carabinieri noticed suspicious movements: a man was taking bags from the back of a truck to quickly pass them to an accomplice, who was loading them into the trunk of a car. The intervention was immediate. The military surrounded the vehicles, blocking the two men and seizing the entire load of narcotics.
A HARD BLOW TO DRUG TRAFFICKING
The seizure represents an important victory for law enforcement in the fight against drug trafficking. The drugs, divided into 70 blocks, were ready to be processed and placed on the illegal market, with profits that could have increased fivefold. Investigators are now trying to trace the criminal network behind the trafficking, hypothesizing links with the criminal organizations that manage the drug trade in the Campania capital.
The two arrested were taken to prison and will have to answer to the charge of drug trafficking. The investigations continue to identify possible accomplices and reconstruct the route of the drugs, from the supply to the distribution in the city's drug dealing areas.

It is incredible how the Carabinieri managed to stop such a large drug operation. I hope these operations continue to fight the drug trafficking that afflicts our society. More attention is needed.
