Naples – Grandma Angela, the elderly woman from Ponticelli who in recent months had been the victim of an illegal occupation of her council flat, has passed away.
Her story had caused a stir, prompting the intervention of the Green Left-wing MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the journalist Pino Grazioli, thanks to whom the woman had managed to return to her home.
The apartment had been occupied by unknown inmates who took advantage of a period of absence for health reasons.

Now, with his passing, the apartment will be assigned to a new owner according to the official ranking. "We will ensure that everything is done quickly, transparently, and without interference from squatters," Borrelli and Grazioli assured, confirming their focus on the phenomenon of illegal squatting in the neighborhood.
“Now the council house that was assigned to her will go to another citizen on the list” - comments Borrelli - “and we will carefully monitor the evolution of the situation so that the assignment is quick and transparent and the new tenants can move in without a hitch. The fight against illegal occupations of council houses occupied by clans or squatters and taken away from their legitimate assignees is a battle on which we will never back down.”

It is very sad to hear of the passing of Grandma Angela, a situation that has highlighted serious problems of illegal occupation. We hope that the authorities take these issues seriously and that the new assignees can live in peace without suffering abuse.
