The City Council of Naples, on the proposal of the councilor for mobility and infrastructure Edoardo Cosenza, has approved the executive project for the extension of the city's cycle path network in the north-western area of the city, financed for 4 million euros with resources from the Pnrr.
The approved executive project includes the construction of approximately 10 km of cycle paths in the Fuorigrotta and Soccavo districts, offering new travel opportunities. In particular, connections will be promoted with the stations of line 6 and Cumana Mostra, line 2 Leopardi, Campi Flegrei and Cavalleggeri, Circumflegrea Soccavo, Fuorigrotta, Mostra, and with the line 7 Monte Sant'Angelo station under construction.
The route will connect the offices of the University of Naples "Federico II" in Piazzale Tecchio, Via Claudio, and Monte Sant'Angelo, the Mostra d'Oltremare exhibition center, and the Maradona Stadium.
The new route is built in continuity with the cycle network already present in the Fuorigrotta district, expanding the infrastructural offer in line with what is established in the Pums, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, as updated last January 2025.

"The development of cycle paths connected to the railway stations and university campuses," he adds, "also affects the northern part of the city, particularly the Scampia district and the eastern area. The goal is to create at least 35 km of cycle paths in the city to connect railway stations and university campuses, with a view to providing interchange with the railway network.
In particular, construction work in Scampia began last summer and will continue for a year, while the executive project for the implementation of the network in the eastern area is in the final validation phase.
