Naples – On Friday, officers from the Campania Railway Police Department, supported by a canine unit from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, stopped a 29-year-old Gambian in the Metropark car park of the station.
During the inspection, the infallible nose of the dog Naja allowed to discover 100 grams of hashish cleverly hidden in the man's underwear. Not only that: the young man was found in possession of a counterfeit banknote, worsening his position.
He was arrested on charges of illegal possession of narcotics and introduction of counterfeit money into the country.
A few hours later, yesterday morning, the same officers intercepted a 46-year-old Neapolitan in Corso Arnaldo Lucci, a few steps from the station.
The man, already known for his illegal parking activity, was subjected to a check that revealed a much more serious situation: he was in fact under house arrest for a previous conviction related to scams to the detriment of the elderly.
Caught outside his home without authorization, he was immediately arrested for evasion.
Two operations that confirm the commitment of the State Police in the fight against crime in the nerve centre of the Central Station, thanks also to the invaluable collaboration of the canine units.

The article talks about two arrests made by the police in one day. It seems strange to me that there are so many crime problems near the station. Perhaps more controls and also a greater police presence are needed.
