Naples – A real drug “delivery”, an innovative system perfected during the pandemic, has been dismantled by the Carabinieri of the Nola Company.
The operation, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate, led to the execution of a precautionary order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples against ten people, accused of being part of an association dedicated to drug trafficking. Six of them ended up in prison, while four were placed under house arrest.
The investigation, which began in the Nola area and expanded to markets in the province of Naples, as far as Avellino and Palermo, revealed an estimated turnover of approximately 100 euros per month.

The method: home deliveries and pre-established points
According to the reconstructions, the members of the organization would have used cell phones to receive drug orders, organizing deliveries directly to homes or to pre-established locations. Among the substances sold, crack, cocaine and hashish, sold in variable quantities depending on demand. A system that, during the months of lockdown, found fertile ground, taking advantage of the restrictions to consolidate its market.
The charges: drugs, weapons and receiving stolen goods
In addition to the drug trafficking crimes, the suspects are accused of possession and carrying of a clandestine weapon and receiving stolen goods. Carabinieri, during the searches, they seized drugs, weapons and accounting material, useful for reconstructing the size of the business.
Meanwhile, investigations continue to ascertain any links with other criminal organizations and to reconstruct the entire trafficking chain, from production to distribution.

It's strange how the pandemic has changed many things, including the ways of doing illegality. This method of drug delivery seems almost a normal service, but unfortunately it is a sad reality for our society. Let's hope that the investigation continues.
