A 31-year-old man, originally from Acerra and resident in Fiumicino, is asking for light to be shed on the tragic death of his daughter, born lifeless last February 6 at the Grassi hospital in Ostia.
Article Key Points
The father filed a complaint with the police the day after the event, requesting a thorough investigation into the incident.
Anomalies found during checks
According to the complaint filed by the man and his lawyer, Sergio Pisani, the problems began on January 26, during a routine gynecological visit. On that occasion, irregularities were found in the amount of amniotic fluid, anomalies that prompted the doctor to request further checks at the hospital.
The mother, a 26-year-old woman, was then subjected to a series of tracings that would have highlighted a percentage of amniotic fluid between 60% and 70%, with the child being in excellent health.
The woman went to the hospital four times between January 27 and February 3 to take further tests, all with reassuring results.
The tragic epilogue
On February 5, however, tests revealed a drastic drop in amniotic fluid, down to 35%. At that point, the woman was ordered to be hospitalized immediately, which occurred in the early afternoon of the same day. On the morning of February 6, doctors found that the baby had no heartbeat, and in the evening, the mother gave birth to a lifeless fetus.
Request for investigation
Lawyer Sergio Pisani, the father's legal representative, declared: "We are asking for an investigation to clarify whether there is medical responsibility, whether the little girl could have been saved, whether it was necessary to intervene earlier, without waiting all these days, given that the anomalies were already evident on January 26".
The family therefore asks that full light be shed on this tragic incident, to ascertain any responsibilities and clarify the causes that led to the child's death.
