The investigation into the murder of Angelo Vassallo, the fisherman mayor of Pollica Acciaroli, has taken a significant step forward with the conclusion of the Salerno Prosecutor's Office. Carabinieri Colonel Fabio Cagnazzo and seven other suspects may now face trial.

In addition to Cagnazzo, currently detained in the military prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, the former carabiniere Lazzaro Cioffi, the entrepreneur from Scafati Giuseppe Cipriano and the former collaborator of justice Romolo Ridosso are involved in the investigation. The fisherman mayor was allegedly "lured into an ambush and murdered with 9 gunshots", a modus operandi that led the Prosecutor's Office to consider the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method.
