Quarto - The former caretaker of the service accommodation at the "Azzurra" elementary school on Via Primo Maggio in Quarto, in the province of Naples, completed this morning.

The premises were cleared by the State Police of the Police Station of Pozzuoli (led by Deputy Commissioner Raffaele Esposito) and the mayor of the city, Antonio Sabino, was also present on site, along with the Municipal Police officers coordinated by Commander Ludovico Di Maio together with the head of the Heritage-Confiscated Assets Sector.

"In 13 months," said Sabino, who retained responsibility for Housing, "we have evicted all 10 units unlawfully occupied by retired caretakers and their cohabiting family members. This was achieved through a legal process in which the Municipality of Quarto prevailed in all cases. We can now speak of a true 'Quarto model,' characterized by strong and concrete action to fully restore legality and protect public assets, starting with schools. We are among the first municipalities in Campania to have vacated all occupied schools."

"I thank the Carabinieri of the Quarto branch, the Pozzuoli branch, and the State Police," the mayor added, "for their essential support in this ongoing effort. This effort, conducted by the Assets and Confiscated Assets Office and the Municipal Police Headquarters, also concerns the public housing units in Rione 219 on Via Alcide de Gasperi, resulting in the collection of over €100 in unpaid rent (for which the statute of limitations had already been interrupted several times, with default notices and assessment notices), which has been the subject of forced collection actions with third-party seizures and administrative seizures of vehicles.

The procedure for giving notice of forfeiture of public housing and subsequent eviction has been interrupted only for those who have repaid their debt to the Municipality of Quarto. It will continue in the coming weeks for all others.
