Torre Annunziata – It was supposed to be a challenge for the top spot in the regional Under 17 championship, but it ended in a brawl that sparked controversy and disciplinary action. The protagonists of the clash, which took place on Saturday at the Boscoreale stadium, were the young footballers of Savoia and Santa Maria la Carità.
At the end of the match, won by the white-and-blues by 3-2, the tension exploded in a heated physical confrontation between the boys on the field. The images of the brawl went viral in a few hours, unleashing a wave of indignation.
The response of the club chaired by Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia was not long in coming: exemplary punishment for the entire squad, called to clean the beaches of Salera and Rovigliano in Torre Annunziata.

"Savoia 1908," reads the statement posted on social media, "has decided that all the Under 17 team members will be involved in a beach cleanup. We don't want to get into any controversy: our goal is to help young people understand how lucky they are to play football and what opportunities they have for their future."
Santa Maria la Carità also announced disciplinary measures against its members involved in the clashes.
A strong signal from the clubs, who choose to educate rather than just punish, reminding young people that football is first and foremost about respect and discipline.
