Last Saturday, during a match of the regional Under 18 championship between Belsito and Ischia Calcio in Agnano, a violent fight broke out between the players on the field.
The president of the Belsito Football School, Gianni Caselli, commented: “Saturday's episode, which involved two teams of seventeen-year-olds, represents a failure for all of us. There are no extenuating circumstances for either team involved; therefore, as far as our members are concerned, the decision is final”.
Caselli added: “With regret, I have decided to withdraw the team from the tournament, taking full responsibility. It is a necessary signal because certain values are not negotiable. Those who practice sports must, first of all, learn to be responsible citizens”.
Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra MP Francesco Borrelli supported the company's decision, highlighting the importance of sending clear messages to young people, especially in such serious situations: "Sport, especially team sports, must teach respect for the rules and the value of collaboration for the common good. This is where a healthy society is built. The choice of the Belsito Football School represents a strong and necessary message."
