Rita De Crescenzo on trial for drugs: hearing postponed

Naples – Rita De Crescenzo, the controversial and popular Neapolitan tiktoker with millions of followers, is back in the spotlight for the legal case in which she is accused of criminal association for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The influencer, recently the protagonist of a controversial trip to Roccaraso and a failed attempt to attend the Sanremo Festival, is on trial before the ninth criminal section of the Court of Naples. The hearing scheduled for today, Wednesday 19 February, has been postponed due to the impediment of the lawyer of one of the defendants.

De Crescenzo, who was not present in the courtroom, is accused of having procured customers for a drug dealing center in the Pallonetto district of Santa Lucia and of several episodes of drug dealing.

The charges are based on wiretaps dating back to 2015, accusations that the tiktoker has always denied. The Court of Cassation, in the past, had annulled the precautionary measure due to insufficient evidence, but the proceedings went ahead and are now in the trial phase.

 He is accused of having procured clients for the well-known drug dealer Bruno Pugliese.

The woman is held responsible for procuring buyers for the alleged head of the organization, Bruno Pugliese, but also for acting as a go-between for the retail sale of the narcotics to their respective clients. Thanks to a dense network of wiretaps, the role of Rita De Crescenzo in the drug dealing plot in the alleys of Pizzofalcone: these are accusations for facts dating back to 2015 and for which she was arrested in 2017.

"These accusations don't surprise me. We'll wait for the trial, but unfortunately, it's well known that many TikTok users praised on the platforms have historical ties to crime. Sometimes they are the very expression of it, and often they act as a mouthpiece, giving greater power to the clans. We need to get to the bottom of this affair and investigate all the connections between the Camorra and deviant showbiz," Borrelli said.

In the meantime, De Crescenzo also appears as an injured party in another legal case: the TikToker has in fact reported alleged episodes of extortion against the cooperatives of mooring workers in Mergellina, bringing to light an alleged racketeering network.

"These are things of the past, why do you want to ruin this beautiful moment of mine?"

She explained today in her Tik Tok video that she has never sold, but has consumed drugs in her past (“I have used, I have never sold”).

The case continues to attract public and media attention, while De Crescenzo's popularity on social media continues to grow.
