A unique opportunity for emerging writers comes from Salerno Letteratura and Mokapimm, who are launching a call for stories capable of destabilizing common sense. Until May 15, stories of the realistic, fantasy, horror or romance genre can compete to be included in the Festival's micro-collection, provided that they do not exceed 4000 characters and are born from the 'comic absurd'.

The invitation is addressed to those who wish to test their talent using language to recreate surreal and paradoxical situations.

Sending and selecting

The stories, to be sent to info@mokapimm.it with the file named “surname_name-callsal”, will be evaluated anonymously by the Mokapimm team. Fifteen stories will then be submitted to a reading group, which will select the first five for the Festival's micro-collection. The details to be included in the files include name, surname, title of the story and a short biography, maximum 500 characters.

An initiative for creativity

Daria Limatola, president of Duna di Sale, emphasized how the festival this year dedicates space not only to writers, but also to figures such as editors, translators and publishers, considering Mokapimm's proposal a perfect integration in this context.

Editorial Perspectives

The founders of Mokapimm, Valentina Mari and Fabiana Di Maio, highlighted the intent to involve authors and offer them a direct comparison with professionals in the publishing sector. This project aims to discover new voices through writing inspired by paradox and the absurd, finding in the Salerno Festival the ideal environment to grow the project and give space to new talents.

this article is very interesting and offers opportunities for emerging writers, but I think there are some points that could be clarified, such as the story selection process and expectations. The deadline is coming.

I'm not sure if the theme of absurd comedy is easily accessible to everyone. Some writers might find it difficult and this might limit their chances of entering the festival.

I like the idea of having a festival that includes various literary genres, but I wonder if the stories really need to be so short. Sometimes ideas need more space to be developed well.
