Sant'Antimo - A story that sounds like something out of a film noir, but unfortunately, it's true. A 25-year-old of Pakistani origin, with a rose in one hand and a knife in the other, turned a former colleague's life into a nightmare.
The Carabinieri of Qualiano put an end to his escalation of violence, arresting him and seizing the last “weapon” in his repertoire: a stick.
The story, which has as its protagonist a 27-year-old Indian woman, an employee of a housewares store in Sant'Antimo, began a few months ago. The two had shared some work shifts, but after the 25-year-old's contract expired, the situation degenerated.
The man began to show up in front of the store, not to claim rights or protest against the employers, but to harass the woman with threats and discriminatory comments.
From words to deeds
During one of his raids, the 25-year-old addressed the 27-year-old with prejudice, pointing out that in his country, women are forced to cover their faces with the veil.

But it didn't end there. On another occasion, the man showed up in front of the store with a rose and a knife, trying to approach the victim. Only the intervention of the security personnel prevented the worst.
The last act and the arrest
Yesterday morning, the 25-year-old made his last, daring appearance. Armed with a stick, he asked to speak to his former colleague. The woman, now exhausted by fear, did not hesitate to call 112. The Carabinieri of Qualiano intervened on the scene, arrested the man and seized the stick.
The court validated the arrest and sentenced the 25-year-old to one year and four months in prison, with a suspended sentence. He was also banned from approaching the victim, who was monitored by an electronic bracelet.
What might seem like a simple fight between former colleagues actually hides a much darker reality: that of intimidation, discrimination and gender violence. A story that, like a melancholic refrain, reminds us that certain dynamics cannot and must not be ignored.
The 27-year-old was able to regain her freedom to live a peaceful life
And while the 25-year-old will have to deal with the law, the 27-year-old will finally be able to breathe, hoping that this is truly the last page of a chapter that should never have been written.

This story is really disturbing, it is unbelievable that a former colleague could become a persecutor in this way. It is important that the authorities intervene immediately, to protect the victims of violence and discrimination. Justice must be done.
