A property that had been illegally occupied for 45 years has finally been cleared in Torre Annunziata, on Via Grazie.
The news was announced by the mayor Corrado Cuccurullo, who highlighted that “public money has been spent improperly” for the maintenance of the building.
The mayor explained that “In recent weeks we have worked tirelessly to find a painless solution without the use of force.” He also thanked the families involved who made the operation possible without tension, and the police forces who carried out the order of the judicial authority with “great spirit of humanity in compliance with the law.”
Cuccurullo reported that the municipal offices and social services have proposed various measures to meet the needs of the affected families. In some cases, the proposals have been accepted, while in others they have been rejected.
The mayor stressed that “The issue of illegal occupations is being given great attention, not only by this municipal administration, but by all state bodies.” He finally reiterated that restoring legality is essential to guarantee a solution to those who have the right to housing with respect to the regional public rankings.
