Authorities have seized two buildings in Torre Annunziata. The Municipal Police, with the support of the Guardia di Finanza, have walled up the entrances to a building on Via Giardino and another on Rampa Nunziante, the latter located in the same spot as the tragic collapse on July 7, 2017, in which eight people lost their lives.
The intervention in via Giardino 56 was necessary for safety reasons and serious hygiene and health deficiencies. The building, already under seizure by order of the judicial authority, was permanently closed with the affixing of seals.
Subsequently, the municipal technicians and the Municipal Police officers moved to via Rampa Nunziante 15, where they sealed the access to the building that remained partially standing after the collapse seven years ago.

"We have collected reports from residents and taken action to ensure safety," said Mayor Corrado Cuccurullo. "The situation on Rampa Nunziante was also worrying. We can't leave that ruin standing forever: we owe it to the victims of that tragedy. Something new will have to be built there."
The city administration has also announced a redevelopment plan for the area, considered a strategic artery for the city's traffic.
