Torre del Greco – It seemed like a scene from a video game, but unfortunately it was all real. An episode of violence, madness and escape took place yesterday in city traffic, culminating in the arrest of a 34-year-old from Boscotrecase, already known to the police.
The man, on day release from prison Eboli, first beat his partner, then rammed a young man who tried to help her, damaged a parked car and finally forced a motorist to take him home under threat.
It all begins on a sultry day in Torre del Greco. A 20-year-old, stuck in traffic, notices a horrifying scene through the closed windows of a car next to him: a man is slapping the woman sitting next to him.
Without hesitation, the young man calls 112, but decides not to wait for the arrival of the Carabinieri. He gets out of his car and runs to help the woman, shouting at the attacker to stop. After helping her, he gets back into his vehicle, but the reaction of the violent man is immediate and brutal.
The man, enraged, puts the car in gear and starts chasing the young man, ramming him with his car. In the excitement, he loses control of the vehicle and ends up crashing into a parked car. But the already surreal situation does not calm down. The attacker gets out of the car, blocks another car in transit and, threatening the driver, has him drive home.
Meanwhile, the sirens of the Carabinieri of the Torre del Greco radiomobile section are getting closer and closer. Thanks to the indications of the witnesses, the soldiers intercept the fleeing car and, after a brief struggle, put an end to the man's madness, taking him in handcuffs.
The 34-year-old, who had benefited from a release from the prison of Eboli, was transferred to the penitentiary of Poggioreale. He will have to answer to a long list of charges: mistreatment, damage, private violence, resisting a public official and threats. Another violent page for a man who, despite temporary freedom, has once again chosen the path of illegality.
The scene, paradoxical and dramatic, left those present shocked, while the community wonders how it is possible that situations like this can happen in broad daylight, in the middle of city traffic.
