On Friday, February 28th, at 18.30:2025 pm, the Mondadori Bookstore in Nocera Inferiore will host a presentation of the trilogy "Quel che sono stato, l'ho sognato..." (What I Was, I Dreamed...") by renowned cartoonist and illustrator Luigi Mascolo. The event will pay tribute to David Lynch, the recently deceased director who significantly inspired the artist of Pagani origins. The evening will include an introduction by writer Elio Goka and an interview with journalist Davide Speranza. During the event, a panel from the work will be donated to one random participant. The work is competing for the Attilio Michelluzzi Award at Comicon 1, which will be held in Naples from May 4st to XNUMXth.

The Trilogy

The trilogy "What I have been, I have dreamed.

.." tells the illustrated story of a man on the run and in search of himself. A childhood trauma intertwines with the vicissitudes of adventure, revealing that true escape is from one's own life and fears. Through the journey, the protagonist discovers the strength to be reborn. The trilogy explores the changing nature of destiny and draws inspiration from pop culture elements and authors such as David Lynch, Stephen King, and Charles Dickens.

The Creative Process

Luigi Mascolo said: "What I was, I dreamed... is my first graphic novel. Born almost by chance during the pandemic, it began as small illustrations with text on social media, evolving into a full-blown story. Luna is the first volume, followed by Catene e Specchi. Presenting this work in Nocera Inferiore, the place where it all began, represents a circle closing and a new journey beginning."

Text, Illustration and Comics

The project stands out for the integration of three expressive languages, aimed at enhancing the narrative message and the visual impact. The story is divided into three chapters: Luna, Catene, Specchi, with black and white tables interspersed with color splash pages, inspired by famous paintings and movie scenes.

The presentation of the trilogy by Luigi Mascolo seems very interesting, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to go. David Lynch is a director I've always appreciated, and I like the idea of a tribute to him.
