NOLA – The State Police continues its action against drug trafficking in the Naples area: yesterday evening, officers from the Nola Police Station arrested a 34-year-old from Nola and a 57-year-old from Liveri, both with criminal records, on charges of illicit drug possession.
The two were caught in Piazza Sant'Antonio Abate while they were suspiciously exchanging objects near a house. At the sight of the officers, the younger one tried to get rid of a precision scale, a package and a cell phone, handing them over to his uncle before taking refuge inside the building.
The timely intervention of the police allowed them to stop the 34-year-old, found in possession of 1.290 euros in cash. During the search, the officers discovered, hidden in the back of a freezer in the building's atrium, a backpack containing two metal containers with cocaine, 14 pre-packaged doses of the same substance, six cell phones, a knife with a 20-centimeter blade, a drug-stained cutter, three precision scales and packaging material.
The 57-year-old instead tried to hide in an abandoned dovecote, but was stopped while trying to hide another metal container with eight doses of cocaine, a stick of hashish and a cell phone behind a beam. The operation resulted in 74 grams of cocaine and 18 grams of hashish seized, as well as tools for packaging and selling the drug. The two men were arrested, accused of possession for the purpose of dealing.
