In the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Striano, this evening at 18:30 pm, the book Il Virus della Corruption, written by the Colonel of the Carabinieri, Vice Commander of the Campania Legion, Claudio Mazzarese Fardella Mungivera, will be presented.
Awarded at the International Grand Prix of the Golden Lion in Venice, last October 2024, with a plaque for his precious work as an anti-corruption writer, Mazzarese is the author of books that immerse the reader in a world often seen with limits and distant from the reality that surrounds him.
Published by Rogiosi, the book, a 116-page volume, focuses on corruption as the evil of the century and of humanity. The event, organized by the National Association of Retired Carabinieri, Section of Striano, under the direction of retired Chief Brigadier Carmine Macri, is realized in collaboration with the Municipality of Striano, led by Mayor Giulio Gerli and Deputy Mayor with responsibility for culture Olimpia Ferrara, falls on the Day of Remembrance and Commitment in memory of the innocent victims of the mafia, and will be hosted in the room named after General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, killed in Palermo a few months after his inauguration, in the massacre of via Carini, in which his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro and the escort agent Domenico Russo also died.
The assassination of Dalla Chiesa, after that of Aldo Moro, is certainly one of the most serious crimes in the history of the Republic. In addition to the author of the book, representatives of the police, associations and civil society will speak; all citizens are invited to participate. Free admission.

The book presentation seems interesting but there are doubts about how corruption is treated. We hope that the author manages to convey a clear message and not just empty words to create emotion.
I honestly don't know if this event will bring about real change. Corruption is a complex problem and it takes more than one book to address the roots of evil in our society.
The meeting seems to be a good opportunity to talk about important issues, but I fear it is just a catwalk. Let's hope there are concrete actions after these discussions.
