Ischia - A 20-year-old from Guinea was arrested in Ischia for an attempted scam involving a fake accident involving an elderly woman: foiled thanks to prevention.
Dore Souleymane, born in Guinea but resident in Castel Volturno, already known to the police for similar crimes, ended up in handcuffs when he attempted to defraud a woman by pretending to be a friend of her son. The man called the victim claiming that his son had caused a car accident, hitting a person, and had been arrested. For his release, he asked for 22.000 euros.
However, thanks to awareness campaigns on scams, the woman suspected the deception and immediately contacted the Carabinieri. The operations center organized an intervention, setting up a stakeout near the victim's home, where the meeting with the crook.

A few minutes later, the 20-year-old approached the woman's house, but was surprised by the police. Attempting to escape through a nearby pine forest, he was promptly stopped and arrested. Analysis of his smartphone revealed several messages confirming the attempted scam.
Investigations are ongoing to identify any accomplices. In the meantime, the young man has been transferred to prison and is awaiting trial.
