On March 22, 2025, the conference hall of Villa Colonna Bandini will host an event of great scientific importance for the world of sports medicine: “The Royal Days of Sports Cardiology 2025”.
The conference will be at the heart of the initiative “Training and Studying the Heart 2025 – Arrhythmias and Sport”, an opportunity for training and discussion on arrhythmias in athletes and on the distinction between physiological alterations of the heart rhythm and signs of potential pathologies. The event, under the guidance of the scientific director Dr. Antonio Russo, consultant cardiologist of the SSC Napoli and specialist of the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, will see the participation of Dr. Raffaele Canonico e Dr. Gennaro De Luca, respectively health manager and social doctor of the SSC Napoli.
The aim is to provide a scientific update to the sports doctors and cardiologists, also involving representatives of the main scientific societies, including SIC Sport, ANCE and SIT. Among the experts who will be speaking are prominent names in sports cardiology such as Dr. Giampiero Patrizi, National President of the Italian Society of Sports Cardiology, and Professors Paolo Calabrò, Flavio D'Ascenzi, Giuseppe Limongelli and Luigi Sciarra. Honorary president of the meeting will be cardiologist Emilio Parrella.
To enrich the day there will be a panel discussion moderated by Adrian Shepherd, dedicated to a very current topic: “The Conscious Use of Medical Vocabulary in Sports Journalism”. The debate will provide an opportunity for doctors and journalists to reflect on how to communicate health issues in sports correctly and responsibly.
Another significant moment of the event will be dedicated to social issues thanks to the participation of the Dream Counter, non-profit organization led by Fiorangela Giugliano, which works to make the wishes of cancer patients come true, underlining the value of sport as a tool for hope and inclusion.
