BENEVENTO – The trial against Daniele Pizzone, 10, accused of cocaine dealing, ended with a 30-month prison sentence: a much lighter sentence than the prosecution had requested, which had called for six years in prison and a fine of 30.000 euros.
The verdict was influenced by the defense strategy of the lawyer Gerardo Giorgione, who during the trial dismantled a good part of the accusatory system. The lawyer managed to demonstrate that Pizzone had never sold cocaine to the owner of a shop in the city center, a circumstance on which the public prosecutor relied. The argument convinced the judges to requalify the contested crime, reducing the sentence compared to the initial request.
Now we await the reasons for the sentence, which will be decisive in evaluating a possible appeal. The lawyer Giorgione, convinced of the innocence of his client, has already announced his intention to appeal. It should be remembered that Pizzone has already spent eight months in precautionary measure.

The sentence for Pizzone seems a bit strange, 10 months seems short compared to the 6 years requested by the prosecutor. The defense did a good job but there are doubts about the final decision of the judges, we'll see how it goes.
