On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March, the 33rd edition of the Giornate returns You do in spring, an event dedicated to the cultural and landscape heritage of the country, organized by Fai-Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano Ets.

There will be 750 places, in 400 Italian cities, visitable, with a free contribution, thanks to the volunteers of 350 delegations and Fai groups active in all regions. In Campania there will be over 40 open sites.

Many will exceptionally open their doors to allow visitors to discover historic villas and palaces, archaeological areas and temples, cathedrals and churches, castles, art collections and museums, gardens, botanical gardens and parks, unusual places, often inaccessible, of landscape and historical-artistic importance.

The program of the Fai Spring Days in Campania was presented today, in the council room of Palazzo San Giacomo, by Sergio Locoratolo, coordinator of the Cultural Policies of the Municipality of Naples, and Michele Pontecorvo Ricciardi, regional president of Fai Campania.

Also present were representatives of the delegations of Avellino, Benevento, Caserta, Salerno and Naples, together with delegates of the Fai, Fai Giovani and Fai Ponte tra culture groups. “This 2025 edition of the Fai Days – said Pontecorvo Ricciardi – celebrates the important milestone of the 50th anniversary of the Foundation and comes at a time when the harmony generated by volunteer work has allowed us to acquire a stronger concreteness in the territory and to collect increasingly important goals.

In fact, Fai in Campania is involving all the institutional entities of the territory, starting from Naples, up to the provinces". "The jewel in the crown of the Fai days - said Locoratolo - is the endless opening of large places of the artistic-cultural heritage of our country and our city. This year for the first time the Municipality becomes associated with Fai, with which we have already developed important collaborations.

In addition to being a model, it is also, for us, a spur because the institutions must ensure that these openings, which are extraordinary, can become ordinary. As the Municipality of Naples we are also working on particular sites, I am thinking of the Maschio Angioino, the Castel dell'Ovo, with instrumental and functional interventions for an opening that we hope will then be definitive”.

In Naples, the Schilizzi Mausoleum in Posillipo will be exceptionally open to the public, where Villa Rosebery can also be visited. Another exceptional opening, reserved only for Fai members, is the garden of Palazzo d'Avalos, in Chiaia. In the city center, the Banca d'Italia will open its doors, with a visit to the management floor. In the province, the Fusaro Columbarium will be open in Bacoli, while in Pozzuoli a visit to the early Christian Necropolis of Villa Elvira is proposed.

In Sorrento, Villa Cortchacow and the Botanical Garden of the Parco dei Principi, while in Cicciano Palazzo Nucci and the Millenary Olive Tree. In Castellammare di Stabia, the openings of the Corderia and Fincantieri will be proposed. In Casamicciola, on the island of Ischia, the ancient Terme Belliazzi are proposed, while in Anacapri Villa Mein Welt opens.

There are several itineraries to visit the Bay of Ieranto. In Avellino, the delegation proposes a visit to the Abbey of Goleto and the village of Montefusco. In Benevento, the complex of Sant'Agostino and Digital Museum and the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Episcopio are opening. During the Days, a walk will also start from the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Macchia on a path that will lead visitors to the Ponte delle Chianche.

In Caserta, visitors will be guided to discover the Palazzo al Boschetto, the Palazzo Acquaviva, the Real Vaccheria and the Tempietto del SS Sacramento, Villa Vitrone and the church of Sant'Elena. In Presenzano, you can visit the Edison “Flavio Crescentini” Thermoelectric Power Plant and, in Riardo, the Masseria delle Sorgenti Ferrarelle.

In Maddaloni, on Saturday 22nd, from 10:30 to 13, by reservation reserved for Fai members, the preview of the Ama Festival (Arts + Maddaloni + Architecture) is scheduled. In Aversa, the Fai group will lead visitors to the Church of the Maddalena and the former opg. In Salerno, the delegation proposes the opening of the historic headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and the Bank of Italy, the Fai headquarters of Palazzo Pedace, and a cello concert in the church of the Annunziata.

In Camerota Palazzo Santa Maria will open, which houses the Mutrac (Museum of Terracotta of the Ancient Bell Tower), while in Vietri Palazzo Punzi and Palazzo D'Avossa. In Valva Villa d'Ayala-Valva reopens, while in Cilento a walk along the Masseta coast is planned.

The Fai spring days are always a great opportunity to visit historical places that would otherwise not be accessible. I hope that there will be good participation from people, so as to enhance the cultural heritage.
