The mobilization of Ikea workers continues for the renewal of the company's supplementary contract, which expired in 2018 and is awaited by over 7.400 employees.
After the state of agitation and an initial package of strikes, the trade unions Filcams, Fisascat and Uiltucs confirm a national strike day for Friday 15 March with sit-ins in the main Italian cities.
The demonstrations will take place from 10am to 14pm in front of the sales points Ikea of Carugate (Milan), Anagnina (Rome) and Afragola (Naples). The unions accuse the company of ignoring workers' requests, despite the constant increase in turnover and a model that presents itself as inclusive and sustainable.
After more than a year and a half of negotiations, according to the unions, Ikea has chosen not to recognize the value of its employees.
Among the main critical issues reported are the failure to apply increases for new hires, creating unequal treatment, a system that does not value professional growth, the reduction of protections in case of illness and the obligation to work on holidays, compromising the balance between life and work.
The protest will not stop on March 15: on March 17, employees of the Rcmp (remote design centers) and SO.DE (social delivery) offices will also cross their arms.

It is important that workers mobilize for their rights, but I do not know if striking is the right solution. Perhaps there are other ways to make their voices heard without interrupting work.
