Naples is the protagonist of a new publishing initiative that aims to enhance its “bibliodiversity” aimed at childhood and adolescence. From March 19, coinciding with the celebrations for the 2500th anniversary of the foundation of the city, “Vedi Napoli e poi narra”, a volume edited by Donatella Trotta, will be available in bookstores.
A Journey Into Neapolitan “Bibliodiversity”
The book, published by Il Gatto Verde in the Il Bibliogatto series, is intended as a resource for educators and parents. The preface by Maura Striano and the afterword by Grazia Gotti accompany the selection of texts that offer different perspectives on Naples, a city often victim of limiting stereotypes. Donatella Trotta's work, composed of journalistic and training experiences, is intended as a pedagogical guide for readers of all ages.
A Mosaic of Looks and Visions
“Vedi Napoli e poi narra” acts as a mosaic of Neapolitan perspectives, enriched by seven symbolic itineraries. The collection presents itself as an affective bibliography, exploring a universe rich in signs, dreams and needs. The complexity of the city of Naples is thus made accessible through a branch of literature that unites different generations and cultures.
Event at the Bologna Children's Book Fair
As part of the 62nd Bologna International Children's Book Fair, a discussion on the work will be held on April 2, chaired by Donatella Trotta together with the publisher Nicoletta del Giudice. Barbara Schiaffino, Federica Iacobelli and Rosario Esposito La Rossa will participate, with an introduction by the pedagogist Silvana Sola, at 13 pm at the Area Book Lovers' Café.

Donatella Trotta's book seems to be an interesting initiative for Naples and its culture, but I'm not sure if the new generations are ready to deal with such complex texts. It would be useful to have simplified versions too.
