Hypotheses on the causes: risky overtaking or slippery asphalt
The police have begun investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident. Initial hypotheses suggest that the collision could have been caused by a reckless overtaking or by the conditions of the road surface, made slippery by recent rainfall. The investigation is still ongoing, but voices are already being raised calling for greater safety on State Road 18, a road that is often the scene of accidents.
The tragedy has left a deep void in the small communities of Velina and Ceraso, where the victims were well-known and beloved figures. “They were extraordinary people, always ready to lend a hand,” commented a visibly shaken resident of Velina.
While the families of the victims prepare to experience the pain of loss, the entire community gathers around them, seeking comfort in sharing their grief. In the meantime, the authorities continue to work to shed light on one of the darkest pages in the recent history of this area of Cilento.
