The Teatro Summarte in Somma Vesuviana will host the eleventh edition of the “Jazz & Baccalà” festival on Friday, March 28. On this occasion, the renowned Cuban artist Jany McPherson will perform accompanied by Luca Bulgarelli on double bass and Amedeo Ariano on drums.
Jany McPherson: A Talent from Cuba
Jany McPherson, a singer, pianist and composer of Cuban origin, began her career with the Buena Vista Social Club orchestra. Her style is strongly influenced by illustrious Cuban pianists such as Ernesto Lecuona and Chucho Valdès. McPherson won the Adolfo Guzman Award in Cuba and her music is a fusion of various jazz styles that evoke the sounds of her homeland with a touch of personality, originality and modernity. The show at the Teatro Summarte is entitled “A long way”, the name of her latest album.
The “Jazz & Cod” Festival
Since its creation, the “Jazz & Baccalà” festival has stood out for its union of music and gastronomy. Each show offers a tasting of typical dishes from the Neapolitan tradition, with particular attention to cod, a key element of the local cuisine. This music&food format allows spectators to live a complete sensory experience, where the dishes are accompanied by the notes of nationally and internationally renowned artists.

I didn't know Jany McPherson started with the Buena Vista Social Club Orchestra. Her style is truly unique and the combination of jazz and cod is an interesting idea for the festival. I hope it is a success.
The festival looks promising, but I wonder if the dishes will really be representative of the Neapolitan tradition. It will be interesting to see how the artists will perform with the local cuisine.
