A classic of Italian literature is transformed into a modern opera on stage. “I Promessi Sposi – Opera Moderna”, directed by Graziano Galatone and directed by Michele Guardì with music by Pippo Flora, will stop in Salerno for a unique show in Campania.

The cast includes highly talented performers, including Maria Grazia Di Valentino in the role of the Nun of Monza, Maurizio Semeraro in the role of Don Abbondio and Francesca Pignatelli as Cecilia's Mother. In the roles of Renzo and Lucia, there are the young promises of musical theater Marco Di Nunno and Flavia Di Bartolomeo. The cast is completed by Piero Locorotondo (Don Rodrigo), Paolo Pace (Fra Cristoforo) and Marta Villani (Perpetua), with choreography by Sara Baldini.

This modern opera looks really interesting, but I don't know if I can go there. The combination of tradition and innovation is a fascinating theme. I hope that the audience will appreciate this new version of the Betrothed, but some might prefer the classic version.
