Rome – The Casalesi Boss Michele Zagaria remains under the harsh prison regime. The Court of Cassation rejected his appeal against the extension of 41bis, reiterating that the clan is still operational and that the former red primrose of the Camorra remains its leader.
The decision of the Supreme Court, pronounced by the seventh section presided by Stefano Aprile, confirms the provision of the Surveillance Court of Rome. The judges underlined the “extremely high criminal depth” of Zagaria, highlighting that the faction attributable to him is still active.
The declaration of dissociation released in 2018 was of no avail, lacking - according to the magistrates - any concrete evidence. Furthermore, the acquittal in 2022 in the trial for Camorra association, relating to the years following his arrest (December 2011), does not exclude the risk of a resumption of contacts with organized crime.
With the inadmissibility of the appeal, Zagaria was sentenced to pay the legal costs.

It is important to know that the boss Zagaria remains in hard prison. Even though he made statements of dissociation, the Court said that the clan is still active and he is the leader. This is worrying for security.
