The opening of the show “Sirens, Sciantose, Malafemmene ed altre storie di donne veraci” received considerable acclaim at the Teatro Troisi in Naples. Directed by Carlo Cerciello and written by Federico Vacalebre, the recital features Monica Sarnelli as the protagonist, accompanied by the actress and dancer Cinzia Cordella.
A Feminine Look
The production offers a glimpse of life in Naples through female stories and voices. The story is enriched by the virtual presence of figures such as Enzo Gragnaniello and Peppe Lanzetta, with a central theme that explores gender stereotypes in music. Strong and complex characters are represented, including mothers, trans and mythological figures such as mermaids.
Musicians and Tradition
Thanks to the musical arrangements of Pino Tafuto and Salvio Vassallo, Sarnelli performs a refined repertoire that combines tradition and modernity. Elements of electroswing, rap and digital tango blend together to tell the story of historic artists of Neapolitan music, such as Gilda Mignonette and Teresa De Sio, bringing to the stage a mix of emotions that range from anger to irony, to sensuality and melancholy.
A Surprise Ending
The show, scheduled until March 29 before the tour, culminates with a surprise finale: the Neapolitan adaptation of Madame's song "Marea", transformed into "Parea". This number aims to raise awareness of current gender issues, thus offering both an artistic and political contribution.
