Naples – The Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has opened a case for manslaughter, currently against unknown persons, to shed light on the causes of death of Aurora Bellini, the 19-year-old student who died of cardiac arrest during the night between March 17 and 18 aboard the Naples-Palermo ferry.

The young woman was on a school trip with the fourth-grade surveyors class of the Manetti Porciatti institute in Grosseto.
The investigation will allow for an autopsy and toxicology test, scheduled for the next few hours. While the first results of the autopsy could emerge soon, the toxicology results will take approximately ten days to be available.
Meanwhile, in Batignano, Aurora's hometown, the family is waiting for answers. Her father Paolo Bellini is asking for the truth: "My daughter had no pathology. I last heard from her on Monday evening, she was fine and having fun with her friends. She told me she would have dinner with them and then go to the disco on the ship, without staying out late."
Investigations into the causes of death
At the moment, the only certainty is cardiac arrest, but it remains unclear what triggered the fatal crisis in such a young girl. It could be an undiagnosed congenital pathology, but other hypotheses are not excluded.
The investigators also intend to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the rescue, to verify whether all procedures were followed and whether there are any responsibilities.
Aurora felt ill while the ferry Cruise Bonaria she was about 40 miles from Capri. Her companions found her unconscious in the cabin bathroom around 2 am. The doctors on board intervened immediately, desperately trying to revive her.
The young woman was then transferred to a Coast Guard patrol boat and transported to Sorrento, where she arrived lifeless. Subsequently, the body was transferred to Castellammare di Stabia and finally to the morgue in Nocera Inferiore.
Dismay among the comrades and the community of Grosseto
In Grosseto, Aurora's classmates, returning from the tragic trip, are in shock. Their testimonies and those of the teachers will be collected to reconstruct the young girl's last moments. Meanwhile, the entire community is preparing to rally around the Bellini family on the day of the funeral, while her parents and twin sister Martina await answers about a death as sudden as it is inexplicable.
