Naples – Yesterday afternoon, a four-year-old boy was hit by a scooter while walking calmly on the sidewalk, next to his father.
Two young men riding a scooter, in an act of incivility and irresponsibility, invaded the pedestrian area, knocking over the child and violently throwing him to the ground.
The child's face hit the pavement, leaving him with a cut above his eye, several abrasions and a psychological trauma he will hardly forget. But it could have been much, much worse.
“My son is alive by a miracle,” says the father, visibly shaken, addressing the deputy of the Green Alliance – Left, Francesco Emilio Borrelli. “These two stopped to help, but by then the damage was done. My son was crying desperately and is still deeply upset today.
We live in Secondigliano, a neighborhood too often ruined by those who do not know what it means to live civilly. We ask for more controls, more security. Those who respect the rules cannot be held hostage by these criminals”.
The parent's complaint is not an isolated cry, but the symptom of a widespread malaise. Corso Secondigliano, a crucial artery of the city, has become the symbol of a degradation that seems unstoppable. Sidewalks invaded by scooters, speeds out of control, lack of respect for the most basic rules of common life. And the question arises spontaneously: where are the controls?
Francesco Emilio Borrelli, deputy of AVS, does not mince his words: “It could have been yet another tragedy born of incivility and anarchy. Today, in some areas of Naples, it is dangerous even to walk on the sidewalks. It is unacceptable. Corso Secondigliano, like many other areas of the city, needs a constant presence of the police. Only in this way can we prevent episodes like this from happening again. The right to safety cannot be denied to honest citizens”.
The request is clear: more controls, severe fines and immediate seizures for those who violate the rules. Because Secondigliano, like all of Naples, deserves to live without fear. And children must be able to walk on the sidewalks without risking being overwhelmed by incivility.

The article is very sad and makes you think about the situation in Secondigliano. It is unacceptable that children cannot walk safely. More control is needed by the authorities, I hope things can change.
