Naples – An operation by the State Police led to the arrest of a 58-year-old originally from Ghana, already known to law enforcement for drug-related crimes.
Article Key Points
The man was caught while selling cocaine in via Cesare Rosaroll, in the heart of the Porta Capuana neighborhood, before attempting a daring escape.
The discovery and the pursuit
The agents of the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station, during a territorial control operation, noticed a suspicious passage of drugs between the man and a buyer, who quickly disappeared.
As the patrol cars approached, the 58-year-old tried to flee, but was stopped after a brief chase.
The loot: cocaine and money
During the search, the officers found on his body 30 doses of cocaine (for a total of 4 grams) and 50 euros in small denomination banknotes, presumably the proceeds from drug dealing.
But the most significant discovery was made in his home: hidden in a bedside table were 18 more packages of drugs (about 72 grams), a precision scale and 170 euros in cash.
The accusation and the arrest
The man, already burdened by previous convictions for illegal possession of drugs and resisting a public official, was arrested and taken to prison. The operation confirms the commitment of law enforcement in combating drug trafficking in one of the most sensitive areas of Naples.
