Naples – Illegal occupations, electricity thefts, repeated building abuses and commercial irregularities. This is the outcome of the operation conducted by the Naples Local Police in the public housing complex on Via della Bussola, in Secondigliano.
The operation involved several operational units, including Secondigliano, Central Investigation, Heritage Protection, Building Protection, Abandoned Vehicle Unit and Territorial Intervention Group, with the support of the State Police and Enel technicians and veterinarians.
Illegal occupations and energy thefts
During the checks, two of the four homes inspected were found to be illegally occupied. In one case, the occupant was reported for building invasion and illegal electricity extraction. Another home, already reported last September, was once again found to be the target of building abuses and electricity theft.
Fines for commercial premises and animal abuse
The operation also led to the sanctioning of two commercial activities for:
Illegal occupation of public land
Sale of alcohol without a permit
Failure to provide certified notification of commencement of business for food trade
Unauthorized structural modifications
Irregular installation of advertising signs
Particular attention was paid to an arcade whose manager was reported for illegally operating the business and failure to display the prohibited games sign. A pitbull was found inside the premises without a microchip and with its ears cut off, a sign of possible mistreatment. The dog's owner was reported and specific instructions were imposed on him for the correct management of the animal.
In a municipal land illegally fenced, a pony without a microchip was also found. The animal was seized and identified, while the area was seized and the occupant reported.
Vehicle checks: seizures and fines
The officers ordered the seizure of 5 motorcycles and 11 abandoned cars. Of the 31 vehicles checked (three of which had foreign license plates), six fines were issued for lack of insurance, expired MOT and failure to use seat belts.
The operation is part of an extraordinary control plan aimed at combating widespread illegality and restoring legality on the territory.

The article talks about an operation by the Local Police in Naples, but it is not clear if the sanctions are sufficient. Thefts and illegal occupations continue to be a serious problem in that area, perhaps more control would be needed.
