Poorly preserved fish, poor hygiene and illegal occupation of public land: a restaurant-fishmonger's shop in via dei Tribunali, in Napoli. The premises, already under the scrutiny of the Local Police in recent months, were the subject of new checks which confirmed the serious irregularities previously discovered.
The checks conducted by the Municipal Police officers, together with the staff of the ASL veterinary and the Food Hygiene and Health service, highlighted critical hygienic-sanitary conditions.
The fish products, including molluscs, crustaceans and various types of fish, were stored in a manner that did not comply with current regulations and lacked the mandatory traceability and labeling. The kitchen laboratory also presented poor hygiene conditions, with the consequent seizure of approximately 30 kg of fish products and 15 kg of gastronomic preparations.
Already at the end of 2024, the owner had been fined 8.000 euros due to the violations found, with a report to the ASL and the One-Stop Shop for Productive Activities, which had issued a warning. However, the irregularities were not remedied and, at the new inspection, the authorities ordered the immediate suspension of the activity and the seizure of the equipment.
In addition to the hygiene and health deficiencies, the Local Police found further administrative irregularities, including the failure to display anti-smoking signs, incorrect management of separate waste collection and an illegal occupation of approximately 10 square meters with tables and chairs. For these violations, the entrepreneur was fined 6.800 euros and had to immediately remove the illegal occupation.
The operation is part of the widespread checks that the authorities are conducting on the territory to ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulations and the protection of public health.

It is worrying to see how certain places do not respect hygiene rules, it puts everyone's health at risk. I hope that the authorities continue to monitor and punish those who do not follow the rules for the good of all.
