A civic commitment in defense of public greenery, born from the indignation of the citizens of Corso Garibaldi, clashes with bureaucratic delays and administrative inertia: the petition for the replanting of felled trees along one of the main arteries of the city has collected numerous signatures and brought the promoters to a direct confrontation with theCouncillor for Green, Vincenzo Santagata, who had guaranteed the planting of new trees within October 2024.
As of March 2025, however, nothing has been done. In an attempt to get answers, they have been sent four PECs to the director of the Green Office of Common, Theresa Bastia, but communication proved to be slow and laborious. Only after repeated requests did confirmation arrive: the contract was awarded and the trees will be planted within four months from February 2025, so in June.
A timing that raises strong concerns: planting new plants in the summer, with scorching temperatures and a lack of water resources, risks condemning them to to die under the burning sun, considering that the entire municipality has a single tanker for irrigation of the entire city.
Faced with these critical issues, citizens have once again asked for a faster and more adequate intervention, obtaining a new promise from the councilor: the replanting will take place by April or, in the worst case scenario, by October 2025. One year late compared to the initial commitments.

Reading the article I realized that there are many problems with public greenery. The situation of the felled trees is serious and it seems that the administration is not doing enough to solve things. It would be important to have more transparency.
