NAPLES – Three envelopes of hashish, for a total of 190 grams, were seized by the penitentiary police inside the Neapolitan prison. The drugs were cleverly hidden in the seams of the clothes of a woman who was preparing to enter the institute for a meeting with an inmate.
The operation, which took place during routine checks to prevent the introduction of illicit objects and substances, led to the arrest of the person responsible, who is now at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
The news was reported by Vincenzo Palmieri, regional secretary of OSAPP (Autonomous Union Organization of Penitentiary Police), who expressed satisfaction for the success of the intervention. "Thanks to the professionalism of the agents, the narcotic substance was prevented from reaching the recipients, thus depriving them of moments of apparent leisure obtained illegally", declared Palmieri.
The OSAPP, together with the local secretariat, took the opportunity to reiterate the need to strengthen controls in the most sensitive sectors, such as the interview area, urging the administration to increase the presence of officers and introduce canine units for even more effective preventive action.

The prison police operation seems to have been effective, but there are doubts about how people manage to introduce drugs. There should be stricter controls to prevent such situations that put security at risk.
