Naples – The Quality of Life Academy expresses strong concern regarding the recent closure of the green area of Via Cortese, a space redeveloped about twenty years ago by Mr. Giacomo della Guardia.
Article Key Points
In 2014, the Municipality of Naples publicly recognized Mr. Della Guardia's commitment, awarding him a plaque of thanks for having returned to the citizens a previously abandoned area.
The reasons for the closure
According to the Environment Manager of the Accademia Qualità della Vita, Carmine Attanasio, the closure was determined by a complaint and the subsequent verification by the Municipality, which found that the concession expired in 2019 and the presence of unspecified dangerous situations.
“We wonder why the Municipality only noticed this situation after six years, potentially putting the safety of hundreds of children at risk,” says Attanasio. The president of the Academy, Domenico Esposito, adds: “We ask that the green area be returned to those who created and cared for it for twenty years.”
The appeal for children and animals
The Quality of Life Academy emphasizes how the main victims of this closure are children, who suddenly found themselves deprived of an important recreational space, and the animals that populated the aviaries in the area, now transferred to restricted spaces and with little chance of survival.
The Accademia Qualità della Vita asks the Municipality of Naples to provide immediate clarifications on the matter and to work towards a rapid reopening of the green area, in respect of the work carried out by Mr. Della Guardia and in the interest of the citizens.
