NAPLES – Moments of tension this morning in front of the headquarters of the City Council of Naples, in via Verdi, where a group of protesters attempted to occupy the institutional office.
In the confusion, two Municipal Police officers were injured after being overwhelmed by the crowd. The one who reported the incident was the city councilor Massimo Cilenti (Napoli Libera), who firmly condemned the episode: "The time has come to say enough: such actions are no longer tolerable. The right to demonstrate must be guaranteed, but it can never turn into violence or put people's safety at risk", Cilenti declared.
The politician then expressed solidarity with the officers involved and hoped that such incidents would not happen again: "No cause, however legitimate, can justify acts of aggression against the police. The administration and the entire community must distance themselves from any form of violence, reaffirming the principles of legality and mutual respect".
