Naples - The premises adjacent to the Church of Gesù e Maria in Piazza Eritrea in Naples had been placed under seizure because they were being used as homes by squatters.
However, the seals have been removed several times by individuals linked to the Frizziero della Torretta clan, as reported by local residents who contacted Green-Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who have returned to illegally occupy the church: "In recent weeks, the residents have reported the incident to the relevant authorities, the Municipal Police, the State Police, and the Carabinieri," local residents say, "and the church was seized, but those individuals tampered with the seals five times.
Recently they had a van come and take away all the goods that were left in the premises."
"As we did with the former rectory of the Church of San Biagio ai Taffettanari, illegally occupied by individuals linked to the Macor clan of Pizzofalcone, we will demand tough, decisive, and decisive action," Borrelli declared. "The clans are increasingly appropriating public property, seizing historical heritage, and feeling like the undisputed masters of the land.
This is because it has been allowed to happen for too long. Times must change and with them the mentality of those who for years have defended and fomented the Camorra culture in the city's neighborhoods. In the face of this violence and arrogance, we will not retreat one step."
