The Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii is preparing to welcome thousands of pilgrims for an extraordinary event: “A Night at the Shrine”.
Starting April 10, the basilica will exceptionally open its doors in the evening hours, offering visitors an unprecedented journey between faith and art.
The initiative, promoted as part of the Jubilee Year, will allow you to discover the history, spirituality and artistic richness of the cathedral, built by San Bartolo Longo. The tour, lasting about two hours, includes five thematic stages: the Basilica and the Altar of the Virgin, the Chapel of Blessed Bartolo Longo, the Museum and the ex-votos, the facade and the monumental bronze portals, and the climb to the panoramic terrace of the bell tower.
Visits will cost 5 euros and are by reservation only.
The visits, at a cost of 5 euros, will be guided by “Pompeii Tutors” and will take place only by reservation, via email, telephone or WhatsApp. The high number of requests has prompted His Excellency Monsignor Tommaso Caputo to program additional evening openings, to allow everyone to live this unique experience.
Interest in the event was further fueled by the recent discovery of the “Mantegna of Pompeii”, a painting by Andrea Mantegna that remained hidden for centuries. The work, restored in Vatican Pinacoteca, will soon return to the Sanctuary, where it will find its permanent location in the Diocesan Museum.

The event at the Sanctuary looks very interesting but I am not sure if I can book since there are many people who want to go. I hope there is room for everyone and that the visits are well organized.
