It was a busy night in Ponticelli, where a high-speed chase kept the Carabinieri of the Naples Poggioreale company busy: at 2:30 a.m., the officers noticed an Iveco Daily truck and ordered the driver to stop.
The driver, instead of stopping, accelerated, launching a reckless escape through the city streets. The chase ended on Via Don Agostino Cozzolino , where the fugitive lost control of the vehicle, damaging several parked cars before stopping. The driver, identified as Diego Capuozzo, 30, already known to law enforcement , attempted to continue his escape on foot but was stopped shortly thereafter on Viale Margherita.
During the vehicle inspection, the Carabinieri discovered two tanks containing 2 liters of illicit diesel fuel . Capuozzo was arrested on charges of resisting a public official and receiving stolen goods . The investigation is continuing to determine the source of the fuel and any possible accomplices.
