Naples – A former drug lord with ties to the De Micco clan of Ponticelli but also to the Mazzarella clan of San Giovanni a Teduccio was the main architect of the anti-Camorra blitz that this morning led to the issuing of 10 precautionary orders by the Naples DDA, including five arrests in prison, residence bans and obligations to report to the judicial police.

The man, burdened by debts with three dangerous Camorra clans for whom he purchased drugs, decided to hand himself in to the Carabinieri after the clans, in order to track him down, kidnapped his partner's son and one of his collaborators, the latter of whom he attacked and slapped.
The dramatic story emerges from the investigation of the Carabinieri of the Cercola branch, and collected in the over 180 pages of the precautionary order.
Between November 2022 and March 2023, the man made several self-accusatory and accusatory statements against the clans, but in April 2023 he backtracked, stating that his family had refused to support him in the path of collaboration with justice that he had undertaken.
The clans had tried to poison him in his cell and so he had given up the protection program
He also told the police that he had been subjected to an attempted poisoning while he was in prison: after being transferred to another ward due to threats received, someone had entered his cell to pour bleach into his water bottle.
The gangs involved are well known: the Mazzarella clan, to which the man was linked, the De Micco clan and the Mazzarella clan of San Giovanni a Teduccio. The man, fearing for his life, presented himself to the military with 13 grams of cocaine, declaring: "I presented myself because I fear for my personal safety, I am seriously afraid of being the object of an ambush by the De Micco clan of Ponticelli and Mazzarella of San Giovanni a Teduccio”.
He then added that the cocaine delivered, 98% pure, could be packaged in 26 doses of 0,5 grams, for a value of 20 euros each and a total of 780 euros.
According to his statements, the man was in charge of the supply of cocaine to be sold between Mondragone and Benevento. The debts accumulated with the De Micco and Mazzarella clans amounted to over 200.000 euros, a figure that put him in the sights of criminal organizations.
The clans had kidnapped the partner's son
After his disappearance, the clans launched a full-blown manhunt, culminating in the kidnapping of his partner's son and the assault of a collaborator, who was forced to reveal information about his hiding place.
The investigation by the Carabinieri of Cercola, still ongoing, has already dealt a heavy blow to the activities of the Mazzarella and De Micco clans, confirming the connection between drug trafficking, extortion and violence that characterizes the operations of Camorra organizations in the Naples area.
