The new passport application and renewal service is also active in the post offices of Naples and its province. Thanks to the agreement signed between Poste Italiane, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, residents and domiciled in the capital of Campania can now book an appointment at the post office and present the documentation to request a passport directly at the counter.
“Two years ago, after the pandemic, we found ourselves facing a significant demand for passports and to meet the expectations of people who wanted to travel again, both with the establishment of the Priority Agenda by the Department and with the relocation of the service to police stations, we managed to reduce waiting times: in 2023 they were around 80 days, in 2024 we dropped to 15. This partnership with Poste Italiane is a further step that has allowed us to reach the most remote locations and now also large cities like Napoli.
Furthermore, home delivery is an important service for those who have difficulties, fragilities or special needs”, explains Maurizio Agricola, Naples police commissioner. In the city of Naples, in this first phase, the locations authorized for the service are 12: those of Piazza Matteotti, 2, Piazza Degli Artisti, 27, Via Giulio Cesare, 99, Via Baku', 2, in Secondigliano, Via Delle Repubbliche Marinare, 497, Viale Colli Aminei, 36, Via della Montana Spaccata, 2, in Soccavo, Via De Meis, 86, Via Catena, 83, Corso Meridionale, 54, Via Abate Minichini, 1, Via Cassano, 169.
The service is also available in 42 post offices in the province with fewer than 15 inhabitants (from Monte di Procida to San Gennaro Vesuviano, from the islands of the gulf to the Sorrento coast) involved in the Polis project, which brings public administration services to small towns, reducing the digital divide and promoting social cohesion.
“The launch of this new service in Naples is a further demonstration of the attention and closeness that Poste Italiane gives to citizens – underlines the manager of the Naples city branch of Poste Italiane, Carlo Orefice – this new service meets the needs of users who, from now on, will be able to request a passport directly at their local post office by presenting the necessary documentation. This means saving people time and money: an advantage that will certainly be appreciated by Neapolitan citizens”.

I'm happy that there is finally a passport application service in post offices too, but I think there are still many problems to be solved, such as the lack of information and waiting times that could become long again.
This new service is really useful for those who live in Naples, but I wonder if it will work well and if there will be no problems with reservations. Let's hope that the waits are not as long as before, otherwise it is useless.
