Russian President Vladimir Putin has conditionally agreed to a truce between Russia and Ukraine, with the prospect of a phone call with U.S. President Trump to discuss a 30-day ceasefire.
Putin said he was in favor of the truce because it would represent a first significant step towards achieving lasting peace. He then thanked his American counterpart Trump for the attention he paid to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. He also said he had gone to the Kursk region yesterday to monitor the situation on the ground.
Trump, present in the Oval Office with NATO General Rutte, judged Putin's statements extremely promising but incomplete, hoped that Russia would cooperate and made himself available to talk to the Russian president to guarantee the ceasefire.

It's good that Putin and Trump are talking about a truce, but I don't know if it will actually be a lasting peace as they say. Let's hope that things improve and that there will be no more conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.
