Torre Annunziata is preparing for a turning point for the Penniniello district: the Ministry of Social Policies has approved funding of 3 million and 162 thousand euros for the project “Workshop of Experiences”, the only one in the province of Naples to be selected from over 40 proposals.
The initiative aims to redevelop the area through the creation of socio-educational spaces for adolescents and pre-adolescents, as well as interventions on lighting, traffic and separate waste collection. The heart of the project will be the former school building of the district, which will be transformed into a multifunctional center for young people.
The facility will host integrated services for the development of personal and social skills, with spaces differentiated according to the needs of the children. The goal is to create a point of reference for the community, thanks to the collaboration between the N30 Area, schools, the local health authority and third sector associations.
“An important result achieved thanks to the work of the social services of our Area”, declares the councilor for Social Policies Antonio Coppola. “We will activate integrated educational interventions, street education, psychological support and actions against school dropout”The project is part of a broader urban regeneration plan launched by the Cuccurullo administration.
“For too many years the penniniello has been isolated and neglected”, says the mayor. “Now, thanks to new infrastructures and targeted interventions, we have the opportunity to relaunch the neighborhood and improve the quality of life of its residents”. Among the initiatives already underway, a program to encourage separate waste collection and combat illegal landfills.
Company Spring has begun distributing information material and kits for the correct disposal of waste, as well as an extraordinary collection service for bulky waste and household appliances. In the coming days, interventions will begin to enhance public greenery and lighting in the access roads to the neighborhood.

It's a nice project for Penniniello, but I hope the funds are used well and that there is no waste. The kids deserve suitable spaces to grow and learn, without dropping out of school or problems of various kinds.
