Salerno – The death of Cristina Pagliarulo, 41 years old, occurred at the hospital “Roar” of Salerno, has sparked a wave of indignation and a formal investigation by the Codici association.
The organization, known for its “Indignamoci!” campaign against medical malpractice, has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office, asking for clarity on the circumstances of the death.
According to Codici, the woman went to the emergency room around 3 a.m. on March 3, complaining of severe abdominal pain. After being given painkillers, she was discharged about three hours later. However, her condition rapidly worsened, forcing her to be hospitalized again.
On this occasion, an abdominal CT scan revealed a serious clinical picture, with extensive mesenteric tissue thickening and intestinal ischemia, requiring urgent surgery. However, the operation was performed only after several hours, proving ineffective.
“We want to know if the woman could have been saved with timely care,” said Ivano Giacomelli, national secretary of Codici. “The hours of waiting and the treatment she received raise disturbing questions.” The association is calling for a thorough investigation to determine any liability on the part of healthcare personnel.

It's really sad that these things happen, people should be treated with more care and attention, especially in hospital where they expect to receive help and not to make their conditions worse. Let's hope there is justice.
