Rome – Sandro Giacobbe, well-known singer and television host, has decided to break the silence about his health by participating in the episode of Domenica In hosted by Mara Venier.

Already operated for prostate cancer in 2014, Giacobbe revealed that the cancer has returned, this time affecting the meninges. A news that has shocked the public and that has led the singer to share his difficult experience, between emotion and messages of hope.

The fight against the disease

Giacobbe explained that for months he had refused Venier's invitations to participate in the program, due to his precarious health conditions. "The doctors prescribed me to sit and not to force on the pelvis or femur, because there is a risk of breaking if I were to stand," he said.

Unfortunately, cancer struck again, forcing him to a life of limitations. Since the day of the Epiphany, Giacobbe had not left the house, fearing being recognized and photographed, and reading false news about his condition.

“In this period I am sensitive to everything around me, I get moved by nothing, even by Fantozzi films,” he confessed.

The support of the partner and the courage to tell

Next to him, in the living room of Domenica In, was Marina Peroni, his partner of fifteen years. The woman admitted that she had sought psychological help to deal with the disease and that, over time, she had managed to joke about it.

“One of my biggest worries has always been my image. Before undergoing chemo, I thought about my image. Teresa, here she is,” he said, taking off his wig and showing his shaved head. Giacobbe, visibly moved, added: “I wanted to be here, talk about it and send a message of encouragement.”

Despite the difficulties, the singer revealed that he is working on a stage show, Voglia di Hit Parade, which he hopes to stage in September. He is currently waiting for a new drug that acts on bones, eliminating the cancer cells that attack them.

Mara Venier's tears and the message of hope

The episode ended with a moment of great emotion, when Giacobbe wanted to send a hug to Nicola Carraro, Mara Venier's husband, who has been engaged in a tough battle against serious health problems for months.

“You have to be strong, Mara, I know how you feel. You must never give up, hope must never die,” Giacobbe said, before the presenter burst into tears. Carraro, who moved from Rome to Milan to be followed by a specialized medical team, is fighting against an acute lung disease, a herniated disc that has forced him into a wheelchair and the onset of diabetes. Mara Venier, divided between Rome and Milan, continues to stand by her husband with strength and determination.

Sandro Giacobbe's testimony was a warning to never lose hope, even in the face of the hardest trials. A message of courage that touched the hearts of those who listened to it, inside and outside the television studio.
