A very hard blow for the elementary school Anna Ferrara, where thieves stole computer equipment intended for students: during the night between Saturday and Sunday, a gang of thugs ransacked the institute via Sant'Antonio Abate, taking away at least 30 latest-generation computers and 20 tablets, recently purchased thanks to the PNRR funds for digital innovation in teaching.
According to initial reconstructions, the thieves entered from the back, gym side, breaking into a wall and the door of the room where the devices were kept. Not only that: they forced open the cupboards containing the keys to other rooms and, where they were unable to find the keys, they destroyed everything.
The theft has triggered anger and indignation among the families of the students. “This is a real attack on elementary school children. – says a parent – We are a city in disarray. A raid on a school that is just a stone’s throw from a Carabinieri station is absurd.” The deputy of intervened on the episode Green-Left Alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, which responded to the families' appeal.
"We hope that the investigations will lead to the identification of those responsible, unscrupulous criminals who have deprived children of their right to education. For years we have been asking for more effective measures to protect schools, which are now a constant target of theft and vandalism. We need more video surveillance cameras and a greater presence of patrols on the territory, but to date we see none of this. What future are we offering our young people if we can't even protect the places where they are trained and educated?"
